Food Flicks
I guess it all started when I saw The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie, that French romp about a group of six friends trying to have dinner but always getting interrupted. I simply love a food-themed film ... and I'm not talking about anything along the lines of Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle. Although I do enjoy a White Castle every now and then. With just a dab of mayo. No, no, I'm talking about films like Mostly Martha, a German picture about a popular and successful chef who becomes the guardian of her niece after her sister dies in a car accident. It might sound familiar if you've seen the trailer for Catherine Zeta-Jones' new movie, No Reservations. The Zeta-Jones flick is a remake of Mostly Martha. Save yourself $9.25. Put Mostly Martha in your Netflix Q. I also loved Babette's Feast and Big Night, both great stories about the power of food to bring people together. Last night, I added another favorite to my list ... Ratatouille. If you think a cartoon about a rat who wants to be a chef is strictly for kids, you're mistaken. Go see it. You'll fall in love with Paris, with cooking, and you'll remember how it feels to truly believe that you can grow up and be anything in the world you want to be.

In the realm of food films, don't forget 'The Big Chill' - the after-dinner kitchen clean-up is great to watch. Also one of my personal favorites - 'Tortilla Soup'!
Mmmm, White Castle. I wish there were one close by. Love those murderburgers.
It's been DECADES since I've been in a good food fight!
ANYONE CAN COOK !!!
I went to see Ratatouille last week with 3 1/2 year old Grandson, Alex. He was bored to tears although he did politely say, as we were leaving the theater, that it was a very funny movie (he was just so happy to be going home to play with his Thomas The Train Set.) I, on the other hand, loved it. A cute little rat cooking ratatouille in Paris, does it get any better?
