Search Engines and Bitegeist (Volume II)
Okay, okay, okay. I hear you. Twenty six days without a post to Obsessions. And, no, Teresa, that's not a result of the OCD meds working. I've simply been obsessed with things that aren't edible. Well, I'm sure somebody somewhere eats shar pei.
Today, my friends, I thought we'd turn our attention to the Bitegeist traffic log and have a little fun with the search strings that have brought visitors to our online playpen.
As much as I hate to admit it, 21 people over the past month came to Bitegeist as a result of search strings that had something to do with (sigh) mayonnaise cake. Heck, that's four times as many people who searched for me over the past month. Yep, I only had five stalkers over the past few weeks. More people came to Bitegeist (n=8) who were interested in the Ukrainian Daughters cookbook. No danger of your ego getting out of control when you've been topped by a recipe for nachinka.
We had a number of visitors who clearly need to work on their spelling if they ever expect to find what they are really looking for:
- "bear battered fries"
- "kitchan world gallary"
- "desert with semolina in India"
- and, my personal favorite, "momma knows beast"
Pressing life issues being pondered this month include the following:
- "is patrick dundon hot or not?" - Is that our Patrick? If so, there's a nice Jewish girl (the hit came from jewishnashville.com) wondering if you're a hottie.
- "what's the meaning of what's cookin good lookin" - Boy, that's a tough one.
- "why didn't my angel food cake rise?" - Elaine, I referred them to you. Everyone else please see this posting for background.
- "can you make mayonnaise cake with light mayo?" - Get ready, folks. Beverly and Teresa are going to come out really strong on this one.
- "how many flavors do popsicles have?" - This person was really, really interested in the answer to this question. I duplicated the query to see where Bitegeist ranked in the search results. I stopped looking after page 27 (that would be 270 links - Bitegeist not among them). Now that is what you call an obsession.
Three people experiencing problems with their Electrolux Icon appliances found their way to Bitegeist. Thank God I haven't installed mine yet. See My Satellite Kitchen for more details.
And in closing ... Theresa Best of Martinez, Georgia, someone is looking for you. I'm happy to report that our discussion of Best mayonnaise was no help.

Anyway, I am glad to see that my recipe is of interest to the masses. Just don't try and cheat grandma's recipe. My grandmother is still alive and kicking at 80+ and it isn't because she saved calories by using light mayo!---Signed the Queen of Mayonnaise Cakes
PS: I created another wonderful addition for our Easter celebration sans the grasshoppers, Teresa.
