Luisa

When Luisa was four and a half, she surreptitiously fed her unwanted green beans to her grandmother’s poodle, Mitzi. Mitzi subsequently vomited the vegetables into the pool during an important grown-up cabana party. Luisa got in huge trouble for embarrassing her grandfather. And, she hasn't trusted dogs since.

Wondering how I know this about the newest member of the Bitegeist circus? I visited her web site ... and you should, too.

What a great web site! Any woman who has her own store on Cafe Press has my admiration (and possibly my credit card number).

And Luisa is published? That's awesome!

Love the play on words with the site name.

Welcome. Welcome!

Thank you! It's fabulous to have the kitchen of my dreams, after years of throwing dinner parties for 14 in our minuscule Manhattan apartment, then dealing with the 1960s nightmare that was the tiny, dark kitchen in this house when we bought it six years ago.

I take it a certain someone is procrastinating taking the plunge? Trust me: a couple of months with a hot plate and paper cups is totally worth it.

Oh, hey: I hate to be a comment hog, but if you want to see a cake I made Sunday for my best pal Kara, go here:

It wasn't a mayonnaise cake, but it was pretty dang good.

Well, I made it. But then I gave it away. But it's still mine in a sense, right?

Wow - that is quite fantastic! Please share with us the process in which you all went about eating it? Did you eat the ever-lovin' chocolate enclosure FIRST....or did you disassemble and get into that cake!?!

I guess it's nice to have some sort of cake on bitegeist that doesn't start with mayo and end in nnaise (sorry BEV:)

I just cut right through the chocolate lace when I served it, so that everybody got some lace with their slice/hunk/portion. The lace is just melted Lindt Bittersweet bars, so it cuts easily.
