Hedgehog Transport

On Saturday, Marian and I are driving one leg (Augusta to Columbia) of a two-day, 23 leg journey for a rescue Brittany spaniel named Cindy. She's making her way from Moultrie, Georgia, to North Sandwich, New Hampshire, thanks to a chain of strangers - a sort of underground railroad for homeless animals. While I'm happy to participate in the effort to get Cindy (who names a dog Cindy?) to a safe and loving home, I'm much more excited about the other transport that will be staged in conjunction with this activity. I'm calling it the Botticelli Hedgehog Transport. Yes, Viv, get ready ... those creamy hazelnut truffles are headed your way. We'll try to keep the pup out of them on the short drive over to your fair city.

besides the mention of the chocolate transport, i am certain the reason this activity got posted on this site is because of the final destination ...North Sandwich"..... remember, there are no coincidences!

The type of person who names a dog Cindy is also the type of person who names a town North Sandwich.

Here I sit in Hedgehog Heaven. Having met Deb and Marian for lunch today and indulging on all things deep fried and cheesy, I had air for dinner like Deb did.

But now it's almost 11:00pm and I need a nightcap. I open my Pantry Parting Gift, hand carried all the way from Augusta on the doggy transport mission.

Botticelli hazelnut chocolates and the shape of hedgehogs. Who comes up with this stuff? The same person who names a dog Cindy?

So I opened a bottle of Napa Cellars Cab 2003 to pair the wine and chocolate. Luxuriously decadent. Creamy, nutty, and no hint of pencil shavings.

The only thing I can't figure is why would a lovely box of European chocolates come with a 50 cent off coupon for the next box? And the coupon expired Nov. '05. Perhaps the chocolate has aged with the wine!

Thanks Deb and Marian for making the trip to Columbia!

I have two things to say about that ...

1) So much for buying European chocolates at Ross

2) Pantry deliveries not available for all zip codes

Is 95973 an available zip code for pantry deliveries?
