Dean Mixer Menu

We had the deans and their spouses over for a "mixer" on Friday evening. After gnashing our teeth for weeks over a menu, we hammered it out on Thursday evening ... and it was a winner. Tail off shrimp on sliced cucumbers with Asian chile sauce - garnished with a sliver of curled green onion and a lemon twist ... olive oil and rosemary lamp lollipops ... Krab salad (yes, that's crab with a K) ... individual roasted potatoes with sour cream, black caviar, and a dash of chervil ... open faced chorizo and nectarine sandwiches (on crunchy whole grain bread with mango and apricot Stilton) ... blue cheese, cranberry, green apple, and spinach wraps (cut into one inch slices) ... vine ripe cherry tomatoes with a triangle of mozzarella and basil garnish ... and a platter of gooey baklava. Served it all with a lovely pinot grigio and a modest little cabernet/shiraz blend. Signature cocktail was an apple smash ... a summery light green concoction of apple liquer, lemonade, and vodka. I don't know what was a bigger hit ... the food or Hazel, the cat, and her summer hair cut.
